Parenting Newsletter – June 2026

This June, the Parenting Team at Claris Health wants to encourage families to enter the summer season with intention, balance, and flexibility. As school schedules change and routines shift, summer can bring both exciting opportunities and added stress for parents and children alike. Longer days, less structure, and changing schedules can sometimes lead to increased emotions, conflict, or inconsistency, especially for children who thrive on predictability.

Whether your children are home full-time this summer, splitting time between households, or you are working toward reunification, creating simple routines and steady expectations can help children feel safe, connected, and supported.

This month, our classes and workshops will focus on practical ways to maintain structure, regulate emotions, and create meaningful connections during the summer months. Be sure to check out our June calendar for upcoming opportunities and resources.

Summer Reminders & Encouragement

Summer does not have to be perfectly planned to be meaningful. Children benefit most from consistency, attention, and quality time even in simple moments.

As schedules change, remember:

  • Children often feel safer when they know what to expect
  • Small routines help reduce stress and behavioral challenges
  • Connection can happen through everyday activities like walks, meals, games, or conversations

Give yourself permission to keep things simple and focus on what matters most.

Parenting Tip of the Month:

Structure creates safety.

Create a few predictable routines.
Children do well when they know what to expect. Consistent wake-up times, meals, bedtime routines, or screen time limits can help create stability during the summer months.

Balance activity with rest.
Summer schedules can become overwhelming quickly. Try to balance busy days with quiet time so both you and your child have opportunities to recharge.

Use transitions intentionally.
Changes in custody schedules, summer programs, vacations, or childcare can feel stressful for children. Preparing kids ahead of time and talking through transitions calmly can help reduce anxiety.

Focus on connection over perfection.
You do not need expensive outings or perfectly planned activities to create meaningful memories. Presence, encouragement, laughter, and emotional availability matter most.

Remember: Children may forget specific summer activities, but they will remember how safe, supported, and connected they felt. The routines and care you provide today build lasting trust and stability.
